Driving Test

A Driving test will know doubt be one of the most important moments in your life, possibly one of the most nerve racking. But remember if you do all the things that you have been taught, and remain in total control, then you have a good chance of passing.

About the test.

  • It will last app 35- 40 mins and take in a variety of roads, some of which you may not have driven before.
  • You will complete two manouvres, and possibly an Emergency Stop.
  • Your driving will be assessed throughout the test, right up until you finally switch off the engine.
  • Your eyesight will be checked at the beginning.
  • You must take both photocard and paper part of your licence plus your theory certificate to the test centre (No licence-no test!).
  • Examiners will give clear and concise instructions.Although they can not instruct you, where possible they will let you know in good time if you need a specific lane etc.
  • You are allowed a maximum of 15 minors, a serious or dangerous fault will result in a fail.
  • On the test you are allowed to be accompanied by a relative, friend or Driving Instuctor, however the person must remain silent in the back of the car. If you wish to be accompanied ask the examiner in the waiting room at the start of your test.

Myths surrounding the test.

  • There is not a set quota of passes, it makes no difference whether the test is the first or last of the week.
  • Examiners do not fail more people first thing on a Monday morning because they dislike being back at work
  • The test centre do not provide you with a car. You must provide a car suitable for your test. It must be fully insured (for the test itself), current Mot and tax and roadworthy. You must provide an extra rear view mirror for the examiner,’L’ plates must be displayed.
